Pomeranian Prince Svatopluk II 1195-1266

Świętopełk II is considered the most outstanding ruler of Gdańsk Pomerania, known for not only his long-lasting and brave actions but also for his effective efforts in the fight against the Teutonic Order. He was also the founder of the Cistercian monastery in Oliwa. A monument in his honor was unveiled in 1967, a result of the project and execution by the sculptor Alfons Łosowski.
