Lowland Gate in Gdansk
monuments
The Nizinna Gate was built in 1626 by Jan Strakowski based on fortification plans prepared by Cornelius van den Bosche in 1619. The gate was closed at night with two wooden gates featuring powerful locks, which have survived to this day. At the entrance from the side of the bridge, the Gdańsk Coat of Arms from the 17th century has been preserved. To this day, the gate is passable and serves as the only road from the Old Suburb to the Olszynka district, located in the Gdańsk Żuławy.
