Lowland Gate, also known as Żuławska Gate, in Gdańsk
monuments
The gate was erected in 1626 and is the result of a project and construction by the Dutch-educated architect specializing in defensive structures, Jan Strakowski. Despite the recent war, the gate remained untouched, allowing us to admire it in its full splendor. The original doors from the 17th century and impressive locks have been preserved. The southern facade, visible from the bridge, is particularly impressive, featuring a cartouche with the coat of arms of Gdańsk and the Polish eagle positioned above it.
