The last of the remaining elements of the medieval fortifications of the city. Established in the year 1460-1461, when the fortifications consisted of the southern suburbs of Gdansk. Not protected our existing gate new, liquidated in the seventeenth century after the construction of more modern fortifications - bastions. Then the tower changed its role from defensive to store gunpowder. The tower was completely destroyed during World War II. It was bought by the city in 1981 and restored by the Alpine Club, which currently has its headquarters there.
